Boone County Health Department (BCHD) leveraged its long-standing partnership with the Belvidere Park District to enhance the visibility and outreach of its mobile health unit. This collaboration was established through BCHD’s Community Health Improvement Planning (CHIP) process and other strategic planning efforts, where parks were recognized by community members as one of the county’s most valuable assets. By using this insight, BCHD utilized Belvidere Park District locations to host mobile clinics and promote its services, thereby increasing community engagement and expanding access to vaccination services.
The Belvidere Park District has played a key role in the successful launch and operation of BCHD’s mobile clinics, offering logistical support and helping to promote the unit’s services at high-traffic park locations. As a result of this initiative, two mobile clinic sites were established within Belvidere parks, and the visibility of BCHD’s health services was greatly improved. This success, driven by ongoing communication and shared decision-making, has fully integrated the Park District into BCHD’s broader public health initiatives, ensuring sustainable collaboration.
By partnering with the Belvidere Park District, BCHD has developed a community-focused approach that improves access to vaccinations and other health services through its mobile health unit.
