Our new NACCHO fact sheet introduces rural local health departments (LHDs) to the newly released “Guide to Building a Climate-Ready Rural Workforce.”
This fact sheet provides a brief overview and highlights activities from the full guide covering community outreach and education, collaboration with partners, workforce development, and mental health and well-being.
The full guide supports rural LHDs in their efforts to build a climate-ready workforce and provides comprehensive activities under each of the topic areas on this fact sheet, additional resources, and examples from the field featuring rural LHDs. While the guide is tailored to rural LHDs, LHDs of varying capacities can refer to it when building a climate and health program for the first time, or when scaling up their programs to increase their climate response and adaptation capacity.
