Funding Opportunity: Radiation Response Volunteer Corps Sub-Awards

Oct 05, 2016 | Raymond Puerini

The Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) for the Radiation Response Volunteer Corps program is seeking grantees for its Radiation Response Volunteer Corps Sub-Awards. State radiation control programs, health department preparedness programs or local non-government organizations partnering with radiation control and public health programs are encouraged to submit proposals to incorporate volunteer radiation professionals into existing health volunteer response programs. The purpose of these sub-awards is to promote the recruitment, training and management of volunteer radiation professionals and to incentivize a volunteer registry of those individuals for use in radiation emergencies within the states, primarily for population monitoring and shelter needs. In this time of limited state and local resources to respond to emergencies, the use of trained volunteer professionals can prove to be a tremendous asset.

Interested applicants should visit this webpage for more information on the background and scope of the project as well as the submission timeline. Since all projects under this program must be complete by the end of September 2017, applicants are urged to submit their proposals as soon as possible. Questions concerning proposals may be addressed to Ruth McBurney, CRCPD Executive Director, at [email protected].

The CRCPD entered into a five-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in order to carry out this project, which has been extended for the period October 2016 – September 2017. Funding assistance will be provided to qualified and approved applicants through sub-grants for radiation response volunteer corps initiatives and may be used for infrastructure needs, outreach to and solicitation and credentialing of radiation professionals in the state, development of communication systems, and provision of training.
