HealthMatters for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Research to Policy Brief

Jan 19, 2017 | Anastasia Sonneman

In November 2016, the Association of University Centers on Disability (AUCD) released a research to policy brief designed to support community-based organizations serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through various health promotion programs.

This policy brief describes how several states are working with their community-based organizations to promote evidence-based programs like the HealthMatters Program, serving people with disabilities in the communities where they live, work, and play. Also included are recommendations and actions-steps for other agencies interested to grow or develop similar programs. Local health departments are encouraged to use this resource to promote health promotion inclusion in the communities they serve.
