NACCHO’s Incident Management Workgroup held its monthly call on April 27. Dr. Robyn Gershon from the University of California, San Francisco presented on research results regarding the current state of mass fatality planning in the United States. The study purpose was to identify appropriate measures of preparedness for mass fatality incidents and to assess preparedness levels and factors significantly associated with preparedness across sectors of the mass fatality infrastructure. Local health departments were among the groups surveyed.
Two members of the Incident Management Workgroup, John Degnan and Lisa Powell, also collaborated with members of the NACCHO MRC Workgroup on a learning session at the 2015 Preparedness Summit. The April 14 session was titled “Using MRCs to Support Incident Response: Strategies for Success for Planners, Responders, and Volunteers.”
