Institute for Vaccine Safety, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Tool: LetsTalkCovidVaccines

Mar 29, 2022 | Tori Decea

Yes, we’ve made considerable progress! Over 200 million Americans are now protected from COVID-19 thanks to very safe and effective vaccines. Unfortunately, many Americans continue to be hesitant and remain unvaccinated. Some doubt that COVID-19 is a serious disease. Some have concerns about the vaccines’ speed in development, or their safety, or a range of other issues. Vaccine myths abound. Communicating with the vaccine-hesitant is challenging because needs, concerns, and doubts are so broad and varied. The goal of this new tool is to improve COVID-19 vaccine informed decision-making, acceptance, and equity. As any healthcare provider will say, communicating effectively about health issues requires tailoring to the individual. Tailoring to an audience of one.

Which is exactly what LetsTalkCovidVaccines does, developed by the Institute for Vaccine Safety, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Partners.  The unique personalized design, drawing on health communication best practices, tailors the visitor’s online experience to the individual’s vaccine concerns, goals, and demographics. Blending a mix of personal stories with science-based animations, LetsTalkCovidVaccines delivers concise content to provide the right message to the right person in the right way. Take a look at the LetsTalkCovidVaccines website and share widely with your partners to help spread its use!
