On May 15, CDC released Interim Guidance for Syringe Services Programs, which provides guidance on ways to prevent transmission of COVID-19 at syringe services programs and additional considerations for safe injection practices. The guidance includes strategies for COVID-19 education, prevention, and screening and recommends increasing the number of syringes distributed per visit; providing mobile, delivery, or mail-order services; and providing counseling services and referrals by phone or online.
