After nearly seven years of leading the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), William (Bill) Smith will be stepping down from his position as Executive Director in September to become the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Santa Fe Community Foundation in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During his tenure, NCSD has tripled in size in terms of budget and staff and has become a leading national voice in promoting sexual health through a focus on sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention.
NCSD was founded by and for the sixty-five public health department STD programs directly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support national STD prevention efforts. Since its inception, NCSD has advocated on its members’ behalf for the resources needed to carry out their work. This is done through a close alignment with member health department priorities, significant engagement with the CDC’s Division of STD Prevention, and the development and support of a wide range of partnerships that magnify the agency’s voice for a specific focus on STDs.
NCSD is now recruiting for our next Executive Director to lead the organization into the future and under its new three year strategic vision. This vision includes four core areas of work: Policy and Communications, Technical Assistance and Health Equity Promotion, Member Services, and National Leadership. The Executive Director position is based in NCSD’s Washington, DC headquarters.
NCSD is looking for a creative, dynamic, and energetic leader with a background in some aspect of sexual and reproductive health and who also possesses experience in non-profit management. The full job description can be found here.
