Local Health Departments Share How NACCHO’s HPV Award Will Impact Their Communities

Jan 06, 2016 | Alyson Jordan

NACCHO announced on December 11 that ten local health departments received funding to host an action planning meeting with stakeholders to determine strategies to address local HPV vaccination rates. In addition, NACCHO extended additional funding to its first cohort of health departments, selected in 2014, to support the implementation of their HPV action plans. Local media outlets across the United States have featured stories about the selected local health departments; view the news stories below to learn more.

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, a time when local health departments can promote awareness of cervical cancer, the role of HPV as the leading cause of cervical cancer, and the importance of prevention and early detection in their communities. Download digital resources for Cervical Health Awareness Month and view NACCHO’s suite of HPV resources to promote the importance of the HPV vaccine in your community.
