Earlier this month, NACCHO’s Medical Countermeasures (MCM) Workgroup held its first monthly call of the project year. The meeting started with representatives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) promoting the content of their latest Second Wednesday Webinar series (July 13, 2016) call, which highlighted information on ASPR TRACIE and the NACCHO Toolbox.
Next, the Workgroup reviewed membership responsibilities for the new project year and initial comments to their 2016-2017 work plan. Key Workgroup goals discussed, included a collaborative project with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) to develop a document supporting state and local health departments with addressing long-term MCM distribution and dispensing planning. Once complete, this resource will be posted via the NACCHO Toolbox. Additionally, members expressed interest in exploring topics related to the prioritization of MCMs for first responders, and critical infrastructure personnel, as well as providing feedback on current and future CDC MCM products, and MCM topics for threats other than Anthrax.
The next Workgroup call will take place in August, with a focus on finalizing the 2016-2017 work plan.
