Staff: NACCHO MRC
Applications for the 2013-2014 NACCHO MRC awards opened on Sept. 30 and closed on Oct. 31 at the new http://mrcnaccho.org website. More than 700 MRC units applied for the Capacity Building Awards, and nearly 200 applied for the Challenge Award this year. In November, staff will begin reviewing the applications. NACCHO signed a contract with the mobile application developer Rallyware to create a new event management-focused mobile application for MRC units; staff traveled to San Francisco for a kickoff meeting with Rallyware and have begun initial planning for the application. Several staff members also met with Tremendousness, the designer for the 2013 Network Profile Study, to begin discussions about the layout and design for the report, which will be released in early 2014. Lastly, NACCHO received the final report from Home Front Communications, the agency who lead the National Preparedness Month outreach campaign for the MRC. The report showed that from Sept. 16—30, traffic to the MRC volunteering website increased by 1,187%, advertisements generated over 37.6 million online impressions, and four radio interviews with MRC unit leaders reached an audience of nearly 200,000 listeners.
