NACCHO Launches the New Preparedness Coordinators Training and Mentoring Program

prep coordinatorsNACCHO is pleased to announce the launch of the New Preparedness Coordinators Training and Mentoring Program. The program will introduce new local preparedness coordinators to guidance documents, support structures, agency resources, and useful tools that will help them with acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job duties. The program will also include a mentoring component for entry level emergency preparedness coordinators to have easy access to experienced emergency preparedness coordinators.

As part of the program, NACCHO will host an interactive day-long workshop on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the 2015 Preparedness Summit to provide a high-level overview of the most important policies, topics, and resources that impact public health preparedness. The workshop will include a variety of focused collaborative breakout sessions on priority areas that make up the foundation of public health preparedness work. New preparedness coordinators will be connected to a peer mentoring team and will leave the session with a personalized learning and action plan and an assortment of resources to continue learning after the workshop has concluded. Apply to Participate as a Student or a Mentor!

To enroll in the program as a new preparedness coordinator student or to become a preparedness mentor, interested persons must apply by December 15, 2014 using the following application. Preparedness mentors will also be eligible to apply for a scholarship to supplement Preparedness Summit registration, travel, and lodging costs. Eligible participants will be informed of application and scholarship status by early January 2015.
