NACCHO and the FSU Center for Innovative Collaboration in Medicine and Law in Tallahassee, Florida have partnered to host a one day training focusing on emergency preparedness. The training brings together public health, emergency management, healthcare, legal, and first response officials to discuss the legal underpinnings of disaster response. Approximately 50 individuals are participating in the training. Students and faculty from the FSU College of Medicine and College of Law are also participating and presenting.
This training is based off of the NACCHO “Public Health and the Law: An Emergency Preparedness Training Kit”, which is designed to prepare public health practitioners, their legal counsel, and other partners to understand and effectively address the changes in the legal environment that occur as a result of an emergency. The kit includes a locally-customizable PowerPoint curriculum and exercise, instructor’s manual, training component summaries, and training videos. The curriculum can be ordered from the NACCHO Bookstore and will be available soon in the NACCHO Learning Management System.
