Adopting a Sexual Health Paradigm

NASEM Releases Supplemental Videos to Highlight "Lived Experiences" of Individuals Living With STIs

Oct 08, 2021 | Jas Florentino

NASEM released a suite of materials to supplement the report, Sexually Transmitted Infections: Adopting a Sexual Health Paradigm, which was commissioned by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, through the National Association of County and City Health Officials. These suite of materials includes policy briefs, videos featuring people living with STIs, an interactive quiz, and more. Most notably, the committee spoke with several individuals to gain on-the-ground knowledge and lived experiences to inform the report recommendations. These 2-minute videos highlight the experiences of four of those individuals and relevant report recommendations.

Videos:
o What is Sexual Health? Adopting a Sexual Health Paradigm
o A physician/parent perspective on youth sexual health
o Sexual health must move beyond the individual
o We need a holistic response to sexual health care and education
o We need more awareness on sexual health

All materials are available to download at no cost at https://www.nationalacademies.org/preventSTIs.
