National Infant Immunization Week 2021

Apr 27, 2021 | Amy Frandsen

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is being observed from April 24- May 1, 2021. This year, ensuring infants are up to date with their immunizations is more important than ever. A CDC report in May 2020 reported a steep decline in routine immunizations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While they have been increasing over the past year, rates for many routine immunizations are still far below baseline. As in-person activities and gatherings are returning, following the recommended childhood immunization schedule is even more urgent to help prevent additional vaccine-preventable outbreaks from occurring.

CDC has developed several materials, many in both English and Spanish, that can be used to promote NIIW and the importance of children receiving their recommended immunizations. These include:

Use these materials to promote immunizations to your communities and use the hashtag #ivax2protect on social media to share the importance of National Infant Immunization Week.
