In an effort to promote inclusive and accessible communication at local health departments (LHDs) and partner agencies, NACCHO created a new fact sheet. titled Five Steps for Inclusive Communication: Engaging People with Disabilities (accessible via the NACCHO bookstore). This resource provides five action steps for LHDs to ensure that accessibility and inclusion are agency-wide priorities when developing and delivering all forms of communication.
The fact sheet was developed by Meredith Williams, one of the 2015-16 NACCHO Health and Disability Fellows, who will be presenting this resource along with a research poster at this week’s American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Conference. NACCHO is currently recruiting for its 2016-17 fellowship cohort. Current public health graduate students and recent alums are highly encouraged to apply.
