The U.S. Small-Area Life Expectancy Estimates Project (USALEEP) estimates of life expectancy at birth for most of the census tracts in the United States for the period 2010-2015 are now available! These data can be a valuable resource for local health departments and the data interactive tool can show life expectancy estimates in your area.
USALEEP is a partnership of the National Center for Health Statistics, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), and the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS).
For more information, check out a new RWJF blog from Don Schwarz, “New Data Provides a Deeper Understanding of Life Expectancy Gaps” or view the recording of the webinar NACCHO co-hosted on August 30 discussing the launch of the USALEEP data. The webinar features information about the project and an example of use of life expectancy data by Whatcom County (WA) Health Department in their community health assessment.
