On October 1, the Public Health Management Corporation, a nonprofit public health institute in Philadelphia, released new data on lawatlas.org that provides information on state-by-state laws and regulations on the use, release, and reporting of personal health information for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and tuberculosis. On this website, local health departments can find the Public Health Departments and State Patient Confidentiality Laws Map to navigate existing laws protecting patient confidentiality. The new data provides critical information that state and local health departments need to begin to evaluate what state laws facilitate or create barriers for coordination of prevention efforts and care.

This website was produced to help fulfill a goal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention.
