New NIH Study on the Effect of Genetics and Pollution on Asthma Symptoms

According to a study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), asthma patients with a specific genetic profile are more susceptible to intense asthma symptoms from exposure to traffic pollution. Patients without that genetic profile do not exhibit the same sensitivity.

Scientists can use this type of data for precision medicine, in which disease prevention and treatment are based on factors specific to an individual.
