In response to requests from Poison center (PC) professionals on additional training when informing the public on radiation-related inquires, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released free online training. Categorized by five modules, these presentations aim to train PC staff on reacting appropriately and sharing vital information in the event of a radiation emergency. The five training modules include:
- Types of Radiation
- Protective Measures
- Exposure and Contamination
- Decontamination and Medical Countermeasures
- Risk Communication
Each self-led module offers user-friendly language, audio and video presentations, charts, and other graphics. Continuing education such as CEU, CME, CPE, and CNE units are available upon successful completion. Click to access the trainings.
