The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR’s) Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) recently released a new collection of resources informing emergency preparedness planning and response in rural and tribal communities. The compendium titled, “Topic Collection: Rural Disaster Health,” highlights guidance for and lessons learned by healthcare practitioners who serve rural and tribal communities. The resource aims to inform how to address key challenges and serve the unique needs of rural and tribal populations, such as workforce/resource shortages and socioeconomic factors adding to resident health risks.
