In a new survey from the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM), about one-third of respondents using pre-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV reported having stopped taking the medications when they were forced to stay home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Of those stopping PrEP, 85% cited that they were not engaging in risk behaviors – mirroring the risk taking behaviors of the overall group. AAHIVM presented the findings last week at the virtual International AIDS Conference.
