New Videos to Aid in Diagnosing and Reporting Measles

Jul 31, 2019 | Kimberly Sharpe-Scott

CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) has developed videos to aid in diagnosing measles. These videos describe clinical features of measles, how to diagnose it in a patient, and what to do if a provider suspects they have a case.

CDC’s vaccination recommendations and guidance have not changed. Providers should continue to implement recommendations published in the 2013 MMWR on ACIP’s MMR recommendations, however these videos serve as a clinical reminder about a disease providers may not have seen in practice, but should be aware of.

The three videos can be found on the CDC Measles Multimedia Webpage.

CDC’s Dr. Manisha Patel describes clinical features of measles, how to diagnose it in a patient, and what to do if you suspect you have a case. Includes images of children with measles infection.
