For over 10 years, the DC Department of Health (DOH) has supported preventive oral health services for school-age children. Increasing tooth decay prevalence among younger children necessitated an early intervention approach. Although the Dental Officer implemented a “perinatal” strategy to decay prevention, the program needed an evaluation plan to measure the effectiveness of these efforts.
