Podcast from Washington: Surgo Ventures with Dr. Sema Sgaier

Oct 14, 2021 | Ian Goldstein

In this week’s episode of Podcast from Washington, NACCHO Government Affairs team members Ian Goldstein and Adriane Casalotti discuss the agreement reached by Congress to lift the debt ceiling until December. They also discuss emergency authorization use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for children ages 5 – 11, new rules for the Title X family planning program, and the implications of the Administration’s proposal to ramp up at-home rapid testing.

Later in the program Ian speaks with Dr. Sema Sgaier, co-founder and CEO of Surgo Ventures, a dynamic action tank that combines philanthropy with data scientists, behavioral scientists, and technologists to solve some of the most intractable health problems and develop scalable solutions to move them to action. Dr. Sgaier talks about how Surgo developed surveys on projected vaccination rates among adults.
