The Preparedness Policy Advisory Group (PPAG) held its monthly call on October 8. This month’s call focused on pharmacy partnerships. The work group received an informational briefing from Mitchel Rothholz of the American Pharmacists Association on the role of community pharmacists in public health preparedness and community health, especially as it relates to vaccinations. Michael Loehr, from the Washington state department of health, shared his experiences working at the state and local level to build partnerships with pharmacies. NACCHO Senior Program Analyst, Sara Rubin, provided an overview of tools and resources available to local health departments in NACCHO’s pharmacy partnerships toolkit. Additionally, Chevelle Glymph, Director of Community Preparedness and Resilience at NACCHO, introduced a biosurveillance needs assessment that will be distributed to a sample of local health departments in early 2015. The next call will take place on November 12.
