Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) December Report

Jan 25, 2017 | Madison Ferraro

During the month of December, NACCHO staff leading Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) efforts facilitated PPHR final review calls with each review team to finalize their reassessed scores and comments based on the new application materials all applicants provided. The NACCHO team also worked to develop recognition materials for each applicant based on the outcome of their review. Applicants will be notified of their recognition status in early January, and recognized agencies will be honored at a reception at the 2017 Preparedness Summit in Atlanta, GA in April. Agencies that did not receive full recognition will begin the resubmission process.

In addition, NACCHO staff have begun planning the Annual PPHR State Lead Meeting to be held in Washington, DC from February 7, 2017 – February 8, 2017. Staff have also been working to provide technical assistance to 2017 applicants, state leads, and reviewers. NACCHO continues to promote PPHR and PPHR re-recognition to prospective applicants for future review cycles.

Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) is a criteria-based training and recognition program that assesses local health department (LHD) capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies. PPHR aims to protect the public’s health and strengthen the public health infrastructure by equipping local health departments with sustainable tools to plan, train, and exercise using a continuous quality improvement model. Visit the NACCHO PPHR webpage to learn more about applying to become PPHR recognized or an applicant reviewer.
