Earlier this year, the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law held a convening on how to leverage the HIV prevention and care systems to better respond to the severe and growing STI crisis with a range of HIV and STI community stakeholders. In an effort to encourage the urgent action and resources needed to address this public health challenge, the O’Neill Institute released a “Quick Take” on the U.S. STI Crisis.
This Quick Take provides an overview of the STI crisis in the United States, including the disproportionate burden of STIs for different populations and by geography. It also discusses the importance of sexual health and the need for increased investment and innovation in STI prevention, care, and treatment.
