September marks the 20th anniversary of National Food Safety Month (NFSM), which this year celebrates the “Top 20 Tips” shared during the past two decades. NFSM is an initiative by the National Restaurant Association designed to heighten the importance of food safety education. Each week will highlight a different food safety issue—such as cleaning and sanitizing, cross-contamination, and personal hygiene—with educational activities and posters. Visit the NFSM website for detailed information and resources.
NACCHO has a number of resources available to support local health departments in their food safety education efforts, including a resource list, toolkit, podcasts, and information on partnership programs. Visit the food safety program website and follow the Preparedness Brief blog for updates.
