To support local health departments in implementing and expanding their vector control programs, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is now accepting applications for the 2025 cohort of the Vector Control Collaborative (VCC) mentorship program. This program will match local vector control programs with demonstrated expertise in the ten capabilities with those currently seeking guidance, tools, resources, and recommendations to build program capability.
To date, NACCHO has awarded over 38 grants to program staff in 13 states to train them in crucial functions such as mosquito surveillance and tick management, build jurisdictional partnerships, and expand vector program operations. NACCHO is seeking applications for two (2) mentees and one (1) mentor. Each mentee will receive up to $10,000 each, and the mentor will receive up to $15,000.
With growing concerns about the impact of vector-borne disease cases across the United States, the mentorship program will help support programs to:
- Implement strategies to improve vector surveillance and control.
- Offer training and education opportunities to professionals working in vector control.
- Expand partnerships with mentorship partners and other jurisdictional organizations.
- Provide an opportunity to visit mentor sites to shadow programs and provide on-site technical assistance in vector surveillance and control.
