Seeking Participants: NEHA Recreational Water Health Assessment

Jun 14, 2017 | Anastasia Sonneman

Annually, Americans average over 300 million visits to swimming pools, waterparks, and spas, visits that also account for over 3,000 unintentional drownings, 4,500 chemically-related emergency room visits, and 5,000 recreational water illnesses. In an effort to improve water safety nationwide, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) is conducting an assessment of aquatic inspection and data use procedures. Ultimately, NEHA aims to gain a better understanding of health risks related to recreational water and apply this data to improve accountability and health standards in aquatic facilities across the country.

Public health officials and other partners familiar with how recreational water inspection data is collected, analyzed, and used to inform regulatory decisions are urged to participate. The full survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Click here to complete the assessment today. For more information about this project, visit the NEHA website, at this link.
