Take Action: Inaugural Fungal Disease Awareness Week

Aug 01, 2017 | Kim Rodgers

August 14–18, 2017, is the first annual Fungal Disease Awareness Week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and partners are organizing this week to raise awareness among the public and healthcare providers about fungal diseases.

Fungal diseases, like c. auris, often go undiagnosed and cause serious illnesses around the world. Increased awareness about fungal diseases is one of the most important ways to reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment, which can lead to better health results. Below are some ways local health departments can get involved in this inaugural awareness week:

  • Sign up to join the Fungal Disease Awareness Week Thunderclap
  • View and share CDC’s Fungal Disease Awareness Week resources, including:
    • Buttons and banners
    • Web features on fungal disease and Valley fever
    • Educational materials, including a new fact sheet on Candida auris
  • Save the date for the Clinician Outreach and Communications Activity (COCA) webinar on Tuesday, August 15
  • Save the date for the CIDRAP webinar on antibiotic resistance on Wednesday, August 16

Visit the CDC website to learn more.
