Highlights: This 2-day Institute of Medicine (IOM) workshop brought together governmental and private sector leaders in healthcare and public health to discuss the opportunities for public health preparedness in the context of the roll out of the Affordable Care Act. Sessions addressed the changing healthcare delivery system and its implications for public health and healthcare preparedness; opportunities to expand partner and stakeholder involvement in preparedness initiatives; new and changing workforce development priorities; and how accessibility to new and existing data can strengthen preparedness.
