The National Association of County and City Health Officials invites local health department leadership and staff to participate in a webinar, Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine | API for Vaccine Appointment Availability. This webinar will discuss the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which has recently been authorized for emergency use in the United States. After the presentation, public health and healthcare providers will have a better understanding of vaccine characteristics such as storage and handling. Vaccinators will also have a more in-depth knowledge of the vaccine’s safety and efficacy profile. *Please note, this portion of the webinar will not be recorded, however, resources will be sent out to registrants.*
Following the Janssen presentation, we will be extending the webinar to include the following: The Biden-Harris administration is committed to ensuring it’s easier for individuals to find a vaccine near them. In order to meet this goal, the administration has charged a cross functional team from the United States Digital Service (USDS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) & Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to work with key stakeholders (state and local officials, pharmacies) to deploy a standard vaccine appointment availability application programming interface (API - details available here). USDS and ONC will discuss adoption of this industry-driven standard to reduce the burden of establishing custom integrations and make vaccine appointment availability data as accessible as possible. This conversation is geared to local health department staff (1) supporting local COVID-19 vaccination planning; or (2) working on (or informing) its agency’s information technology needs related to their COVID-19 response.
The webinar will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 3:00-4:30 pm ET.
