Project Firstline Is For You

Webinar Recording: Project Firstline Webinar and IPC Q&A

Feb 02, 2021 | Andrea Grenadier

NACCHO is proud to be a partner in CDC’s Project Firstline, a comprehensive infection control program designed to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases in U.S. healthcare settings.

Project Firstline is committed to preparing the public health workforce and frontline healthcare workers to protect themselves, their patients, and their communities from infectious disease threats through education and training on infection prevention and control (IPC). COVID-19 has illuminated opportunities to improve IPC practices across a wide variety of facility settings and many of these facilities rely upon their local health department to share IPC guidance and make recommendations. Navigating facilities through the everyday challenges to implementation of IPC practices requires the public health workforce to have a foundational knowledge of IPC, and Project Firstline aims to provide the infection control training needed to protect the nation from infectious disease threats.

NACCHO hosted a Q&A session with Dr. Mike Bell, Deputy Director of CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, facilitated by Dr. Dawn Terashita, Associate Director for the Acute Communicable Disease Control Program for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

During this webinar, NACCHO, along with the National Network of Public Health Institutes, introduced Project Firstline and the resources that will be available to support IPC training among the public health workforce. Afterwards, participants had an opportunity to ask Drs. Bell and Terashita questions related to infection prevention and control.
