On June 12, NACCHO hosted a webinar to provide a basic understanding of the crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) principles and ways to incorporate CERC Principles in Radiological or Nuclear incidents. Additionally, the webinar explored myths that could result in confusing communication messages and identified resources that can help assure clear messaging in radiation incidents.
By the end of the webinar audiences will be able to.
- Describe basic radiation concepts and how they affect communication during radiation emergencies.
- List the six Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC) principles that contribute to effective communication and messaging.
- Identify ways to incorporate Emergency Communication Principles in Radiological or Nuclear incidents.
- Identify radiation myths that could result in confusing communication messages during a radiation incident.
- Describe lessons learned from radiation communication research.
- Identify CDC resources that can help assure clear messaging in radiation incidents.
