Tick-borne diseases are increasingly threatening the health of people in the United States.
Jul 01, 2020 | Danielle Chatelain
Since the initial survey that was sent out through NACCHO’s communication channels in April 2020, NACCHO has conducted two follow-up surveys: one in January of 2021 and another that closed at the end of July 2021.
This four-part series will aid front-line healthcare providers with recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of Lyme disease, an increasingly common tickborne illness.
In recognition of Lyme Disease Awareness Month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urges people to “Get the tips to stop the ticks!”
Suffolk County (NY) mentored Franklin County (OH)’s new tick surveillance program as part of NACCHO’s Vector Control Collaborative. COVID-19 travel restrictions did not stop the expansion of tick species, nor did they stop this virtual mentorship. FaceTime tick dragging is a socially-distanced and low-cost way to receive technical assistance for field work.
The IPM Institute of North America’s Tick IPM Working Group, in collaboration with the TickEncounter Resource Center and One Health Lessons, will be hosting a virtual Tick IPM Special Session Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 2:00-3:30pm EDT.
NACCHO, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is administering the second nationwide assessment of local vector control organizations in the United States.
