From December 1-7, 2019, we observe National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) to remind people six months and older that it’s not too late to get a flu vaccine. Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Flu can also result in serious outcomes such as hospitalization or death. Older adults, young children and people with certain health conditions are at high risk for serious complications from flu.
