NACCHO, in partnership with the CDC, has compiled resources to enhance the capacity of local health department staff to address unique needs in a range of high-risk facility types.
NACCHO will award up to $60,000 for a consultant, or consulting firm, to assist NACCHO with conducting a workforce assessment to evaluate LHD staff capacity related to healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AR). The selected consultant will create assessment tools, conduct data collection and analysis, and develop a final report with results.
The widespread global news of avian influenza in birds has more than likely raised a few hackle feathers from the general public. NACCHO asked influenza subject matter experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), how local health departments can prepare for the possibility of human infections with these viruses and how to respond to public questions regarding H5N1.
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology Association (SHEA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) are pleased to announce the awardees of the 2022 Leadership in Epidemiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Public Health (LEAP) Fellowship.
Please join the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) and CDC for a webinar to discuss recent detections and outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) viruses in U.S. commercial poultry and backyard flocks on Thursday, March 17 at 3:00 pm EDT.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is soliciting comments from the public on antimicrobial drug use practices in companion animals and the potential impacts of such uses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in both humans and animals.
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology Association (SHEA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) have extended the application period for the Leaders in Epidemiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Public Health (LEAP) Fellowship Award for the 2022–2023 academic year.
