NACCHO, in partnership with the Trust for America’s Health and with funding from The John A. Hartford Foundation, has developed a new resource to aid health departments and their partners understand and address healthy aging priorities through data collection and analysis.
This blog takes a look at the impact the pandemic had specifically on the environmental health staff of local health departments as well as provides tips and resources to replenish the workforce as the bulk of the pandemic subsides.
Homes built before 1980 are at a higher risk of having been built with asbestos containing materials (ACMs) than those built after 1980. This is dangerous because exposure to asbestos greatly increases the chances of developing a health condition, such as mesothelioma cancer or asbestosis later in life.
Gender-affirming care is crucial for trans and GNC youth to stay HIV negative or, for trans youth living with HIV, to reach and maintain viral suppression. Observe National Youth HIV/AIDS Day by learning how to support trans youth in your communities!
This MMWR report from CDC shows increases in mental ill health among adults during the COVID-19 pandemic and displays how trends in mental health can be used to evaluate the impact of strategies addressing adult mental health status and care during the pandemic and to guide interventions for disproportionately affected groups.
COVID-19 has had a profound impact on our society beyond the physical toll on those infected with the virus. It has also caused restriction of resources for non-COVID conditions, economic upheaval, and interrupted care on chronic conditions.
Less than 15% of adults with disabilities meet the recommended 150 minutes each week of physical activity. With COVID-19 posing challenges to options such as fitness and recreation centers, this blog will provide guidance on how local health departments can promote physical activity for people with disabilities during the pandemic.
Recent study examines how incarceration and police discrimination are associated with pressing health crises among Black sexual minority men like depression, anxiety, and HIV.
