NACCHO is pleased to announce two new funding opportunities to decrease syphilis via community engagement. Both opportunities focus on engaging community members to develop, or tailor, a plan to decrease syphilis burden in the local community.
Last week, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced the first cases of a concerning new gonorrhea strain. The new strain shows reduced response to multiple antibiotics and another case was also found that had genetic markers that indicate a similar drug response. In May 2022, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) convened a group of national experts to develop a national research agenda for sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention and treatment for the next five years.
