On July 29, President Biden announced the Back to School Week of Action, from August 7-15. This week is a nationwide mobilization effort to get young people the COVID-19 vaccine before going back to school in the fall.
At the end of the 2020-2021 Immunization Workgroup year, the members reflected and identified key lessons learned through the COVID-19 response. Those lessons learned are highlighted below. We hope these lessons will help inform and guide any future public health emergencies, particularly those requiring vaccinations.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month. NACCHO is joining the CDC and other partners to highlight the importance of routine vaccinations and catching up on routine healthcare appointments.
On Tuesday, June 15, The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health—chaired by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA)—held a hearing entitled, “Booster Shot: Enhancing Public Health Through Vaccine Legislation.”
This webinar will cover vaccine breakthrough cases, including what we know about COVID illness after vaccination and case investigations and reporting.
We are currently in the middle of National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), held from April 24 – May 1. This year, ensuring infants are up to date with their immunizations is more important than ever.
