In September, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an urgent health advisory to increase COVID-19 vaccination among pregnant and lactating people to prevent serious illness, deaths, and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
NACCHO is recruiting members for a new Virtual Learning Collaborative (VLC) to develop and train MCH and EPR professionals at local health departments (LHDs) on integrating MCH considerations into EPR planning. This VLC aims to increase the capacity of LHDs to prioritize the MCH population in preparedness plans and responses.
On Tuesday, November 2, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) unanimously recommended the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5–11 under the Federal Drug Administration’s (FDA) emergency use authorization (EUA).
NACCHO is looking to expand the Maternal-Child, Infectious Disease, and Preparedness (MIP) Collaborative Workgroup, which was formed two years ago to support public health and clinical care partnerships at the local level to increase local jurisdictions’ ability to protect, respond to, and support pregnant people and their infants from emerging threats.
Navigating the early months of the pandemic was a difficult time. The fear of contracting COVID-19 as a pregnant or postpartum person made the pandemic particularly challenging for this population.
NACCHO invites interested LHDs to join the upcoming Choose Safe Places (CSP) grantee small group calls to learn more about the CSP initiative and identify collaborative opportunities.
This episode brings together doulas and Substance Use and Mental Health professionals to discuss the use of doulas to support substance use disorder, recovery, and treatment.
