Who's Who features committee and workgroup chairs as a way to recognize NACCHO's volunteer leaders. Our first featured chair is Dr. Tyler Zerwekh from Shelby County Health Department.

About Dr. Zerwekh

Dr. Zerwekh draws upon 19 years of experience within various components of public health and specifically environmental public health. In prior positions, Tyler has worked in the laboratory, epidemiology, public health preparedness, environmental health, and administrative components of the public health field.

He completed the prestigious Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute program in 2008. Dr. Zerwekh has published emergency preparedness articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals and has also written 6 chapters about emergency preparedness and environmental health in scientific and medical texts.

Dr. Zerwekh sits on various professional committees including the National Association of City and County Health Organizations (NACCHO) Environmental Health Workgroup Committee, serves as the Vector Control Technical Advisor for the National Environmental Health Association, and is a trained Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Site Visitor.

He also possesses a Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential through the National Environmental Health Association and serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Environmental Health. Dr. Zerwekh attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Chemistry. He received his Master of Public Health in Occupational Health / Emergency Response from the University of Texas, School of Public Health, and his educational journey culminated with a Doctorate in Public Health in Community Health / Disease Control from University of Texas, School of Public Health.
