Public Health Policy Involvement
LHDs conduct public health policy activities on a variety of topics, including traditional public health policy areas (e.g., tobacco, alcohol, opioids, or other drugs; emergency preparedness and response; infectious disease) and policy areas related to social determinants of health (e.g., safe and healthy housing, funding for access to healthcare, land use planning). The chart below displays the percentage of LHDs involved in each policy area within the previous two years. Use the filters to display further breakdowns by select LHD demographic characteristics. Use the “Compare Results by” drop-down to display the difference between the region of the country, degree of urbanization, and population size served.
