Healthy Community Design
NACCHO’s Health Community Design Team aims to strengthen the capacity of local health departments to be involved in decision-making processes and otherwise extend their role in issues related to the built environment, such as land use planning and community design, with the goal of improving community health outcomes. The program sets about achieving these aims by providing needed resources, technical assistance, and capacity building opportunities to local health departments.
NACCHO’s Healthy Community Design Portfolio involves work with local health departments on Health Impact Assessment, Health in All Policies Initiatives, Health Impact Assessment Community of Practice, and Brownfields.
NOTE: Resources previously found on the Land Use Planning/Community Design webpage can be found in NACCHO’s Toolbox.
