News from NACCHO

  • Join NACCHO, ASTHO, Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC), and the National Association of State Minority Health Offices (NASMOH) on Tuesday, May 19 (2:00pm ET) for COVID-19 and Health Equity: Response and Recovery Tele-Townhall. Speakers will discuss how federal, state, and local partners and national organizations can collectively drive an equity-focused recovery strategy. State, local and city leaders will focus on the structural barriers to the COVID-19 response and the impact on marginalized communities, community engagement, data, and recovery strategies to address testing and contact tracing.
  • NACCHO, ASTHO, APHL, CSTE, and NCSD sent a request to Congress highlighting the need for at least $7.6 billion in additional federal support to support the contact tracing workforce across the country as part of the COVID-19 response efforts. The request lays out the need for at least 100,000 additional front-line contact tracers, 10,000 disease intervention specialist supervisors, and 1,600 epidemiologists to rapidly build contact tracing capacity.
