NACCHO is working with the CDC Division of STD Prevention, the National Coalition of STD Directors, and the Public Health Accreditation Board to develop a national certification program for disease intervention specialists (DIS).
NACCHO works alongside NASTAD to provide technical assistance and systems coordination for the 48 counties, Washington, D.C., San Juan, Puerto Rico (PR), and seven states funded through Phase I of the federal Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative.
The Virginia Department of Health developed COVID-19 Regional Surge Teams to augment capacity to the local health districts (LHDs) by providing highly qualified staff to assist with case investigations and contact tracing (CI/CT) and additional public health projects. This model enabled a flexible, highly competent, regionally managed response team that was adaptable to local needs.
