When pursuing a health in all policies (HiAP) agenda, several communities have used their general plans to advance health across sectors and on a wider range of policies. There are more in depth tools (such as General Plans and Zoning: A Toolkit for Building Healthy, Vibrant Communities) within this HiAP toolkit that discuss how to influence a community's general plan so that it is health oriented or has a health component.
