As part of a quality improvement (QI) project, the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department (LDCHD) used QI techniques ( Fishbone Diagram and Process Mapping) to improve formal and informal opportunities for communicating with the media and responding to media requests. LDCHD also sought to improve routing communication to raise awareness of public health issues and educating its staff on how to incorporate core service messages in Department communications.
